Analog Devices offers a wide range of switching regulators and controllers that operate in step-up (boost), step-down (buck), and inverting modes. These devices are capable of generating a fixed or adjustable output voltage and offer up to 2 A of output current. Some of the features available in ADI’s portfolio of switching regulators and controllers are low battery detector, user adjustable current limit, a variety of switching frequencies, and a reduced number of external components. This highly integrated, versatile family of products is intended to minimize external components for space challenged applications.

Analog Devices manufactures a broad line of high performance, step-up boost switching regulator ICs and boost switching controller ICs with both synchronous and nonsynchronous switches. These switching voltage regulators offer typical input voltage capability from less than 2 V up to 100 V+, switching frequencies up to 4 MHz, and high efficiency operation up to 96%. With burst mode operation, quiescent currents in the tens of micro-amps level can be attained. This combination of features allows for very small, low profile boost switching regulator circuit implementations with minimum external components. Many of these products can also be configured as SEPIC regulators or flyback topology switching regulators.

Analog Devices offers true buck/boost synchronous DC-to-DC converters. With their unique internal four MOSFET switch combination, these buck-boost regulators and controllers can seamlessly transition from step-down mode through 100% dropout operation and then to step-up mode to allow a fixed output voltage even when the input voltage fluctuates above or below the output.
