Analog Devices LTC6952Wizard Installation Instructions ========================================================= Description ----------- The Analog Devices LTC6952Wizard is used to communicate with the LTC6952 and LTC6953. It uses a DC590 or Linduino to translate between USB and SPI-compatible serial communications formats. It also includes advanced PLL design and simulation capabilities. You may use it to: - Recommend part parameters based on your frequency plan - Design noise-optimized loop filters - Simulate loop frequency response and stability - Simulate VCO and Reference source noise - Simulate output noise characterisics and statistics - Simulate time-domain output waveforms Refer to the included ELA.rtf for important usage information. System Requirements ------------------- - Windows Operating System: Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 - Microsoft .NET 4.0 or later - Windows Installer 3.1 or later - Linear Technology's DC590 Demo Board or Linduino Detailed Installation Instructions. Please Read!!! --------------------------------------------------- 1) DC590 or Linduino** You must possess either a DC590 or Linduino (DC2026) board, available from www.analog.com, to communicate with the Demo Board. But, LTC6952Wizard WILL operate with "Communication Disabled" without a DC590 or Linduino. ** If using a Linduino, note that it MUST be used in "DC590 emulator mode". 2) Microsoft .NET You must have Microsoft .NET 4.0 or later installed on your computer. LTC6952Wizard will not run without it. Note that Microsoft Windows Vista and later (Win 7, Win 8, etc.) have at least version 3.5 preinstalled. To manually determine your version of .NET using Windows XP, click Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs or Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs The LTC6952Wizard setup program will automatically install Microsoft .NET from Microsoft's website if a compatible .NET version is NOT FOUND. 3) Run LTC6952Wizard Setup File Run "LTC6952Wizard_Setup" or to verify/install Microsoft .NET and the LTC6952Wizard. The setup program will create an sub-menu in your Program Files menu. Click Analog Devices LTC6952Wizard -> LTC6952Wizard to run the software. Refer to the Help menu for software operation. Refer to the appropriate Demo Circuit Quick Start Guide for hardware connection instructions. INSTALLATION TROUBLESHOOTING -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Symptom: Unable to install. A popup states “Another version of this product is already installed….” Solution: You have a previous version of the application already in- stalled which the installer could not remove. Uninstall by selecting “Uninstall LTC6952Wizard” in the Linear Technology program group. Or, uninstall by using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel. Symptom: Installation finishes but the LTC6952Wizard application exits with an error. Solution: Microsoft .NET 4.0 or later is not installed. This can be caused by a .NET installation error, or by executing LTC6952Wizard setup without Administrator privileges. Ensure .NET 4.0 or later is installed and/or run LTC6952Wizard_Setup with Administrator privileges. Symptom: A popup states "DC590 drivers not found. Attach DC590 to complete driver installation. Re-Install LTC6952Wizard if still not suc- cessful." Solution: The USB driver installation either did not complete, or is corrupted. A DC590 or Linduino must be connected to a USB port after the setup completes to finish USB driver installation. The application may still be used even if the drivers are not installed, but no demo board communication will be possible.
